From African Heritage Day to May Day Queens

Its been a busy moth at West Eaton with lots of fun, sharing and celebrating our cultural diversity.

We enjoyed country dancing with the Tenbury Country Dancers as part of our St George's Day celebrations. Maxine has also been back, by popular demand, to sing for us. She has a magical way of making each person feel special when she sings and it's lovely to see the smiles and interactions.

Thank you also to Angie from Herefordshire Growing Point for coming in to help residents create clay plaques using leaves. We have also been busy planting seeds, getting ready for planting outside. Our new Sensory Garden landscaping is coming along nicely and the new planters have arrived, so we will be busy planting them up over the next few weeks.

We celebrated African Heritage Day with some amazing food cooked by our home manager Charmaine, carer Jess and Chef Mickey. Jess also dressed up staff and bought in a talking drum. One of our friends, Lucie, bought in some original antique African artefacts for the residents to look at. It was great team work and fantastic that as a home we have so much diversity and culture to share with each other.

Our May Queens made beautiful floral crowns over the first May bank holiday weekend. We celebrated VE Day with Cool Moves coming in to dance and for International Nurses Day we had a quiz and showed our appreciation and thanks to our nursing team.

Leominster Priory is hosting its Vikings at The Priory exhibition from 27th May to 22nd June. Some of our residents will be visiting to listen to Hillary play the organ at The Priory. We are also hosting the children from Orleton and Afterton Primary Schools when they walk through West Eaton on their way to see The Priory exhibition.

8th June is the start of Carers Week so we are celebrating our staffing team.

We are also making plans for Father's Day. And then it's our Summer Fun Day.
