Christmas is always such a magical time at Astley and this year we had a fabulous photoshoot with our residents, creating gifts for their families to treasure. Lots of glamming up in our hair salon, ladies getting nails done, festive outfits on and gents all spruced up looking dapper. Here are a few of the photos from the day
We decked the Halls for Christmas and followed favourite traditions - and introduced a few new ones - like the Elf on the Shelf. Always amusing for the residents each morning to see what he had been up to over night!
Baking club were busy in the run up to the big day. They made two Christmas cakes and made sure the were well fed with brandy. They also made some festive fudge - vanilla, white chocolate and candy cane flavour. And our crafters handmade Christmas cards for their families.
We were lucky enough to have Northeast Producers Ltd visit Astley and put on a fabulous show of Oliver for us. There was plenty of singing and laughter, which is always great to see.
We have had lots of special visits from children. Both Foley Park Primary Academy and St Bartholomew's C of E Primary School children visited for some Christmas carols and got us all feeling festive. Bernard said it was so lovely to hear the children sing.
We also had lots of pre-schoolers visit. The Astley Village Nursery and Forest School sang Christmas songs and read Christmas stories. Everyone said how confident and well mannered the children were and it was a pleasure having them at Astley.

Members of Astley Church visited for carolling and mince pies. And more carolling with the local "Gracenotes" choir. Beautiful singing and we look forward to welcoming them back to Astley in the future.
The Droitwich Ukulele Band entertained us with festive songs and at our Christmas party we had entertainment from the brilliant Pippa. Father Christmas also made an appearance at the party to draw our Raffle and have a chat with everyone. His visit made everyone's day.
