Easter has been a really heart warming time at Astley. We started off with a visit from the children of Astley C E Primary School who popped by to chat to residents and give them their handmade Easter cards. Our residents love these visits and always comments about how polite and well behaved the children are. They were delighted to hear their news and plans for their Easter holidays.
Then it was an absolute pleasure to have the Little Squirrels Nursery School children for an egg hunt in our gardens. The sun shone and it was really enchanting for residents to see the children running about in their Easter bonnets. Residents were suggesting spots in the garden they might have missed and loved hearing their delight at finding the chocolate treasure! The video on our Facebook page is wonderful; you can click the link here https://www.facebook.com/reel/1269567952050313

The children sang Easter songs and residents gifted each of them a knitted bunny basket full of Easter treats. Jean and Avril both said "how amazing it was to see the children". Just wonderful wholesome fun. Also a big thank you to AKW for volunteering and donating some of the goodies for the egg hunt. Their company motto is 'Life Made Better' and they certainly do that here in their continued support of Astley Hall.

Inspired by the children, we set too and made our own Easter bonnets. We also iced and decorated cakes to enjoy over the bank holiday weekend. There was a surprise visit from the Easter bunny, bestowing eggs on each resident. It was agreed, it was a most egg-cellent Easter!

Thank you to the wonderful local ladies from Gracenotes Choir who saw us into the weekend with a fabulous performance one Friday afternoon. And Catherine from Musical Moments brought so much joy and entertainment with plenty of singing, props, dancing and smiles. When she left Vera said "She was absolutely fantastic, I really enjoyed that".

Then, we had a great visit from Monty and Marmalade from Alnewood therapy ponies. Monty assisted his owner Sally to do some Art therapy with some of the residents and Marmalade went round and paid other residents a visit. Resident Chris really enjoyed himself saying "It was a great afternoon seeing the ponies".
