It has been a busy few weeks here at Newstead. We danced the afternoon away with entertainment from Kaz and we welcomed Di the Harpist. Mansel has been in to sing and play the guitar - which coincided nicely with our celebrations of our nursing team for National Nurses Day.
We celebrated National Tea Day sampling some new flavours and deciding that we loved a good traditional cuppa best, with some dunking biscuits! The Newstead Arms has been open and with the weather improving we shall be opening up the beer garden soon!
And we marked National Selfie Day, making our own frames and snapping some photos. Souvenir Selfies!

Dare we say it, but we have started working on our Newstead Calendar for 2027. This time the theme is baking and we are including recipes in memory of much loved residents. From a “Campsite Quiche” inspired by a resident’s famous breakfasts, to an “Apple Barbara” in honour of a love of apple and custard. Each bake was made with love and remembrance.

A few of our residents enjoyed a trip to the May Fair and the sights, sounds, and delicious smells brought out everyone’s inner child. There were plenty of smiles, lots of laughter, and one resident even said, “I wish I was 85 again so I could go on those rides!” It was wonderful seeing everyone having such a fantastic time and soaking up the funfair atmosphere. We also had a chance to pop in and see Maggie at Lee's Place.
Then back home we have had a visit from the gorgeous kiddies from Busy Berries Childcare. Lovely to hear all their giggles when we got out the balloons and the bubble machine!
