The team at Newstead are, in the word of their home manager Ali Ough, “the embodiment of team”. She has nominated them for the team award at The Hereford Times Health and Social Care Awards 2020.
The Health and Social Care Awards
The awards are returning for the third year running, established by Hereford Times in partnership with the University of Worcester. They are to celebrate the hard work, dedication , innovation and care delivered across this sector.

There are a range of award categories to reflect contributions from both individuals and teams and across the care sector. It is wonderful to have this recognition, particularly at this time of the Coronavirus pandemic, when carers have been on the front line of the fight against the virus.
The Award nomination for the Newstead team
Home manager Ali is very proud of her team saying:
“They consistently go above and beyond their role boundaries to ensure the residents that live at Newstead House receive warm and friendly care in a homely environment. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they are always willing to help, not only the residents, but their families and friends as well.”
“Newstead House has a cohesive and committed team. All departments work seamlessly together and help each other to achieve the best outcome for the residents and the team. Communication between the different teams is key to the success of the home and all the staff who work at Newstead House have the best interests of the residents at heart and understand the importance of team work and collaboration in getting the right result.”
Newstead House has well trained and motivated staff and there is a high level of staff retention. Due to the impact of effective team working levels of absence and sickness are very low. When people are needing support, their colleagues work together to support them and are flexible and adaptable to change. This means that both our residents and staff benefit from working within an environment that has a strong and consistent team.
There is a lot of fun and laughter and a number of families have commented that Newstead house does not feel like a care home.”
Best of luck to the Newstead team nominated in the Health Care Team Award category.
