Welcome to our first post of the New Year! After all the festivities we are relaxing into the year but we have lots of events and activities planned.
New Year New You!
We have had some very therapeutic pampering afternoons. Facemasks are loved equally as much by our gentlemen residents and we do have a giggle with those. A little tipple of Baileys too!
Relaxing hand massages are the perfect time to have one to one chats and our ladies love having manicures. With that in mind, if you are having a spring clean and have unwanted nail polish, we are always very happy to receive donations.
Happy birthdays
We have celebrated lots of birthdays and Florica, our chef, has made some gorgeous cakes. She knows each resident’s favourite and hand decorates and personalises each one. Person-centred care is central to everything we do. Each new starter has a mentor, not only to show them the ropes and help them settle in, but also to ensure they understand and embrace our ethos.
New team members
One of our new carers, Yvonne, was mentored by Annette. She, in turn, had mentoring training and wants to share her skills, knowledge and expertise. Yvonne has spent time getting to know our residents and hand-made twiddle matts for some of them. Twiddlemats help occupy fingers, distract from anxieties and calm the body and mind. Yvonne fits perfectly into our team.
You can read about Yvonne’s mentoring experience here. She has written a fantastic poem to describe it. https://www.heritagemanor.co.uk/2020/01/mentoring-scheme-heritage-manor/
Are you, or do you know, anyone interested in a career in care? Do you have a good sense of humour and heartfelt compassion? We could have the role for you. Please do give us a call.
Astley makes the News!
There was a buzz at Astley in January, as we tuned in to watch BBC Parliament’s Prime Properties. Recently, we welcomed their film crew into our home, who were making a programme about the late Prime Minister Stanley Baldwin. He used to live at Astley Hall and the film talked about his life, home and love of the countryside. It showed the views of the Malvern Hills from our gardens and some of the historical features of our home.
You can see the film here https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m000dfr9/prime-properties-stanley-baldwin
We agree – what is not to love about our stunning view!
We have lots of events and activities planned, including the Astley Oscars Academy Awards on 10th February and our Valentines Dinner on 14th February. Please give us a call to find out more and let us know if you would like to join.
