What better way to get into the festive mood than Christmas cheers! at the pub and sharing Seasons Greetings with hand crafted cards.
Christmas Cards
At Astley Hall we love all the traditions of Christmas.
Did you know that the first Christmas card was written in 1843 and delivered by a robin! Postmen in Victorian England were popularly called robins because their uniforms were red.
Our residents enjoyed another fantastic crafting afternoon. Jayne Skidmore, their activities coordinator, who was on hand with the glitter and glue to help everyone. Fabulous handmade cards were created and personal messages to loved ones written. To receive a handmade card is surely one of the warmest of seasons greetings.
Deck the Halls
The Christmas tree is up, so now we have decorated the rest of our wonderful home.
Our residents all got involved decking out Astley Hall with handmade paper chains and decorations.
An afternoon of crafting and everywhere looks thoroughly festive!
Christmas cheers at the pub
Who doesn’t enjoy an evening out and what better time than Christmas. Tracy Stancer and Jayne Skidmore enjoyed a wonderful festive meal with some of our residents at The Bird in Hand.
There was roast turkey with all the trimmings, Christmas pudding and brandy butter and of course, crackers with terrible cracker jokes…..
What do you get if you cross Father Christmas with Sherlock Holmes? Santa Clues Ho Ho Ho!!!
A huge thank you to all the staff at The Bird in Hand for looking after us so well.
