The home is an original regency house, converted to provide accommodation for 27 residents in both single and double rooms over 2 floors. We are completing in Spring 2023 a new extension to our home to provide more en-suite bedrooms and a further lounge with direct access to the garden.  As a smaller, more personable home, it provides the highest quality of care 24 hours a day in a happy and homely environment. We have large communal areas and a conservatory and our garden is being redesigned in Spring 2023 to allow full access and enjoyment by our residents.

Our experienced staff of nurses and carers, provide person centred to residents and have achieved the Gold Standard Framework for palliative care, an industry accreditation for excellence. We were one of the first homes in Worcestershire to be awarded with the Worcester Dementia Care Standard. We now hold Platinum status of this award for year on year continued excellence. Our focus is on helping residents enjoy their lives to the full, in the ways that make them happy.

One of our team, Rosemary Johnson recently won The Covid Care Hero Award at the Regional West Midlands Great British Care Awards 2022 and has been put forwards to the National Finals. Other members of our team also reached the finals in their care categories at The Great British Care Awards.

Our Lifestyle and Wellbeing lead Michael Butler also won a leadership award at the National Association of Activity Providers Awards 2022.

Paula Lees Home Manager

I became the manager at Summerdyne Nursing Home in 2018. I have spent the last 25 years working in the elderly care sector, and have seen many changes. I have always kept myself up to date with new ideas and guidelines.

My ethos of care is that our residents feel like they are in their own homes, and that staff have been invited in to assist them. I believe that it is very important for residents to be able to continue to live their lives with meaningful activities that are person centred to each individual.

My wish is to provide an environment where each resident is able to bring their own, unique personality, to create a family unit and be able to share their experiences and life history with each other and staff alike.

I am passionate about ensuring that each resident feels special and that we care for them as we would our own family. Each working day I see as a privilege to make a difference in their lives and I trust that my attitude is helping our carers to feel the same sense of achievement.

As home Manager I am a visible, positive role model working alongside the caring team, providing both leadership and when required working as a team member to ensure that each and every resident`s needs are met, keeping the open and friendly environment that the home has offered for so many years.

Our Quality Care

We have long-standing and dedicated nursing teams in our homes, with many years of professional experience between them. This has enabled us in a number of our homes to have achieved the highest accreditation for nursing care, the Gold Standard Framework.

Testimonials
  • "I am very impressed with Summerdyne. My mum had been in a couple of others prior to getting a place there, and this far outstrips the other two. Mum has been there for coming up to two years, and the improvement in her is amazing. The staff are lovely, kind and very approachable. Summerdyne was recommended to me by another resident's son, who said it was like being part of a big family, and I have to agree that that is my experience too. "

  • "The staff were kind and caring and made me feel at home immediately. From the home visits by the manager, I felt I would be looked after well during my respite stay. All staff could not do enough for me. The food was very good. I enjoyed the activities, such as the visiting birds of prey. The handyman was extremely kind and helpful, just like all the staff. It was good to see the manager mixing with the residents on a daily basis. "

  • "The lifestyle and wellbeing lead and her assistant took over in May 2023. I feel that the girls have gone above and beyond with their kindness towards my husband. I have very often arrived to see the lifestyle and wellbeing assistant sat in his room, trying to persuade him to take part in various activities. My husband's life always revolved around cricket, football, rugby union and garden birds. He is a lifelong Wolves supporter, also Shrewsbury Town. The girls have tried to organise sporting events for him. Personally, I think these two girls truly care about the lifestyle and wellbeing of the residents at Summerdyne. Thank you for all your input with my husband. "

  • "My mother has resided in Summerdyne since June 2023. The family were unsure if she would settle, but she is very happy. Mum is well cared for and enjoys the company of all the staff. Family and friends visit frequently and all are made welcome. There is never an inconvenient time to call and I can go at any time to see Mum. All rooms are clean, tidy and you are made to feel at home. "

Our Activities

Like all Heritage Manor homes, we have dedicated staff who focus on providing a varied programme of events throughout the week, both on a group and one-to-one basis, with varied input from local schools and churches.

We pride ourselves in person-centred care. We aim to carry out activities and events to suit the need of everyone.

Activities available at Summerdyne include: chair-based exercise classes, themed supper evenings, trips into Bewdley, garden centre and local attractions, regular entertainers, including our guitar playing chef, garden parties, sing-a-longs, cake decorating, Wifi access using our ipads.

We always encourage friends and family to take part in our social activities, and are keen to help arrange birthday parties and special events. We celebrate Christmas and Easter, hold an annual Summer fete, have firework displays and hold themed evenings, to which all are invited. We also encourage residents and staff into the garden as much as possible. Lastly, we use the ipads to help our residents stay in touch with family and friends, using email and printing off the photos we are sent.
