Wheelchair access is through the rear entrance of the main house.
Abberton manor is a magnificent Queen Anne Manor House set in attractively lawned gardens and woodland with beautiful views over the Roman River valley situated 3 miles south of Colchester in Essex.
Abberton Manor Nursing home is a listed building providing accommodation for a total of 26 residents in a comfortable, secure, relaxed, and homely environment in which their care, well being and comfort is of prime importance.

At Abberton we recognise the right and need for our residents and their loved ones to be fullyinvolved in the planning and evaluating of the care that we provide. Prior to admission you will be given as much helpand information as possible, to enable you to be satisfied that we can meet your needs.
- Pre admission meeting and assessment of needs

On and following admission, you will be involved in the formation of your care plan with the aim being for you to carry on, with assistance, the activities that you enjoyed previously and ensure as smooth a transition as possible from life at home to life at the manor.
- Admission care plan
- Allocated key worker and named qualified nurse to oversee care and provide a point of contact for you and your family in all areas of home life.
- Your care plan is evaluated with you and your relatives monthly to ensure that it remains current and appropriate.
- 6 monthly formal review of care
- Assessment of needs and desired outcomes ongoing
- Local GP Surgery provides cover, home visits and pharmacy services.
- Your diet is discussed and food preferences catered for within the home’s wide and varied home cooked menu.
- Varied and comprehensive social activity programme.
Social Interaction
As “Champions of Dignity” we recognise and involve our residents in their life choices, we support and enable them through our core principles of privacy, dignity, rights, choice, fulfilment, equality, security, independence and respect.
We encourage and facilitate our residents in maintaining their social contacts within the community to help stimulate mental awareness and raise self esteem.
A varied activity programme both for group and the individual is designed to involve families, friends, youth, senior and community groups and is reviewed on a 3 monthly basis.

Everyone has a choice in which home they select, no matter what the source of their funding. We would suggest you visit several before deciding. We would welcome you speaking to residents for their views.
